My Open Mind's Eye

Here is where I get to write down my thoughts and feelings, my point of view, about everything. Politics, religion, philosophy, science, relationships, basically everything about the world without and the world within. I try to keep an open mind to any and all possibilities, continually striving to remain objective and skeptical, but still willing to give anyone’s POV a chance, no matter how "out there" it may seem. Everyone has their own version of truth. I seek to find the common ground.

Infantile Hypocrisy

Far too many people throw a huge tantrum when a woman chooses to have an abortion. “How dare you play God with a human life!” they declare. “Only the Will of God can give or take life, only He can rightfully make that judgment.” Isn’t that also the argument against contraception as well? That you’ll get pregnant if and when God wills it and not to impede His will with contraceptives?

Yet do you ever hear these same people complain when an infertile couple employs artificial insemination in order to conceive a child? Aren’t they “playing God” by using technology to overcome their biological nature? So apparently, it’s OK to break the natural/biological laws that God sets down for each one of us, so long as you are doing it to create life, but not destroy or prevent life. Either you leave your reproductive fate up to God or you don’t. Come on bible-thumpers, you can’t have it both ways!
